A wonderful day spent with friends

Jumped on the bike early, met our CMA friends for breakfast and meeting. The meeting was great! Many of our friends shared testimonies about how the Lord has helped them thru hard times. AWESOME

Then we were off to our local Harley-Davidson shop to help our HOG group cook for the Special Olympic. We had a blast!

Then it was about 1 o'clock and the sky's were looking dark. Time to start home. On the way home we experienced Gods air conditioning RAIN. If felt great since we were so hot all day :)

It was a great day :))

We got up at 7:15 AM. On the Harley at 7:30 Am. Rode for 1.5 hours and had breakfast out then road back home THE LONG WAY :)

re: 2009 Ultra Classic Seat

A few months back I installed a 2011 Ultra Classic Touring seat which has been lowered some to give better reach with your legs. Yesterday I sold my old seat to a fellow who had tore his up with some metal clips on his boots. He was on his way to Pennsylvania driving from Naples, Florida with his 2009 Ultra on a trailer. So we are both happy now.

New Seat on the Ultra Classic

I recently installed a new seat from Harley Davidson that is now standard on the 2011 Touring Class bikes. The seat is lower and lets you have your feet firmly on the ground when stopped. It is great for those with short inseams. I sat on a couple of the new 2011 Ultras to try the difference and it is a nice improvement over the original one. And it was cheaper than buying a new bike. Well, that's all for now.

New Harley Davidson Ultra Classic

Well it has been awhile since I posted to this blog and my wife say's I need to get busy. It's been almost two years now since I upgraded to a 2009 H-D Ultra Classic. I traded up in November 2008. This is a great ride with all the extra's that make it a great touring bike. I got the bike at Harley Davidson of Crystal River. Great shop with friendly employees. I hope to keep up with this blog now that I think I have caught up with most of the home projects, new floors, tiling bathrooms and painting. Time to have some fun.

Fort Myers, Florida Trip

Well, we have been riding the bike just about full time now since it saves gas verses the car, so it become almost our full time transportation except when we have to pick something up that just won't fit on the bike. Back in April we took a trip down to Fort Myers, Florida to visit some family. The day we started out is was 49 degrees. It's a 220 mile ride from my place with 160 miles of it on Interstate 75. My wife did not care for that part of the trip, same old stuff for a long ways. During our stay there we toured the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium and also a local park that had a nice walkway through woods and out too the Caloosahatchee River. We also took a trip out to the beaches and on the way back stopped at Harley Davidson of Fort Myers. While there I bought a pair of Kuryakyn grips with the throttle boss feature. When we headed back home four days later we rode up through the center of Florida. It was a nice relaxing ride going through Arcadia, Bartow, Lakeland, Dade City, Brooksville and then back to home to Crystal River. The mileage was 20 miles less but it took a little longer but it was worth it seeing new scenery. Well, that all for now. Ride safe!

Valentines Day Ride

I haven't posted here in awhile. We have been real busy here with the business. Today we took a ride out Ozello, Florida to Peck's Old Port Cove Restaurant for lunch. Ozello Trail road is about 10 miles long to the end with about fifty turns. The weather was a little cool but the sun was out nice and bright. If your ever in the Crystal River, Florida area take a ride out to Ozello and try some great seafood while your at it. Ride safe, Ed!

Doing my 5K service!

Yesterday I decided to do the 5K service on my 2007 Harley Davidson Softail Heritage Classic. Before this, I always had the Harley Davidson shop do it. After talking to some of my friends who ride and do their own service, I decided to go for it. I bought a motorcycle lift from Sears. It is a Craftsman Model #875.50191. It is made of aluminum so it is light but easily handles the H D Softail bike which weighs almost 800 pounds. For the 5k service the main thing was changing the oil and filter. I bought the filter from Harley-Davidson, part #63798-99A and Mobile 1 Synthetic 20W- 50 oil from Walmart. The servicing took me about two hours after doing all the required checks and inspections on the 5k service list. Including the price of the lift and oil I spent about $180. I also bought the service manual for the 2007 Harley-Davidson Softail Heritage Classic, part #99482-07 which is loaded with detailed diagrams and pictures for doing your service. The price of the manual is about $60. So all totaled up, it is about the price of one service at the Harley Davidson shop.
